Yap Ye Iswa 2022
The Catawba Nation hosts annual "Day of the Catawba" festival for first time since COVID-19.
For the first time since 2019, the Catawba Nation hosted the Yap Ye Iswa Festival. The “Day of the Catawba” festival celebrates the Catawba Tribe by showcasing art, food, and indigenous culture for our community. The festival was revived in 2019 after a number of years and it was postponed from 2020-2021 due to health and safety concerns and the COVID-19 pandemic.
This year's attendance seemed busier than ever and visitors came from far and wide to support artists, enjoy good food, and participate in the celebration.
Want to know more about Catawba culture? Visit the Catawba Cultural Center in person Monday - Saturday, 9 AM - 5 PM or online at catawbaculture.org.
Hi Alex :) Monty (Hawk) is searching for a specific blanket that is irreplaceable. It was last seen in the ladies changing tent during this event- Yap Ye Iswa 2022. It was used to cover the teens drum. Please see his Facebook posts for a picture. Who would have access to the attendees?
